Delete Your Account

This page describes how to permanently delete your Lines account and what happens to your data. Required reading before you do it, since it cannot be undone.

This is permanent. Unlike deactivating, deleting your account cannot be reversed and there is no recovery period. If you just want to stop using Lines for a while without losing your data, see deactivating your account instead.

How to delete your account

Account deletion is done from inside the app, while logged in:

Open the Lines app and log in to the account you want to delete.
Go to Profile, then Settings, then Account Status.
Scroll to the Danger Zone and tap Delete Account Permanently.
Confirm by tapping Delete Forever.

You'll be signed out immediately once the deletion completes.

If you can no longer access the app or your account, for example you've lost access to your email and can't sign in, email support@linesapp.in from the address on file with your username, and we'll verify your identity and delete the account on your behalf.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes:

Your profile: username, email, name, date of birth, avatar, bio, and links
Every Line you've posted: original posts, replies, and relines or quotes
Your likes, bookmarks, follows and followers, and blocked-user list
Your notifications and notification preferences
Your registered push-notification devices
Your invite code and invite history

What may be retained

Some information can outlive account deletion, kept only as long as needed for the stated purpose:

Reports you filed against other users' posts, or reports other users filed against your posts. Moderation records are kept to preserve the integrity of past decisions, even if your account is gone
Aggregated or de-identified data that no longer identifies you
Records we're required to keep to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our Terms
